My new favorite dress.

So I finally get to share something I sewed for myself.
Last month I won two giveaways, one from Cindy of Cation Designs and another one from Far of Memoryseed.
From Cindy I won 4 yards of the following fabric, the Colette crepe dress pattern and seam binding!

And Far sent me a couple of patterns she was de-stashing plus some cute buttons. Among the 5 patterns she sent me was this Simplicity 5548.
So I made a dress. I have sewed tops and skirts for myself, never pants or a dress. I used the Simplicity patten as is for the bodice but for the skirt I omitted the pleat and made 4 darts instead for the back and front.
Sorry no shots of the dress in action, but here is a hanger shot, (sorry the picture is so fuzzy).

Fully lined, and edges bound with seam binding.
The fabric was very forgiving due to the stretch and giant blue flowers hide a multitude of sins, including pointy darts, mismatched seams and wonky stitching lines.
I drafted my own sleeves. I still have two yards remaining and am thinking of making a circle skirt. Thanks very much to Cindy and Far and other bloggers who have generously added to my pattern/fabric collection. I still have to work on the Crepe pattern. That will hopefully be my Christmas dress.
Oh, and I finished my Taffy blouse, while it fits really well, I hate the sleeves, they are too billowy. So am planning to remove them this weekend and put in some new ones.
Thanks for reading, as always.
